• The Upward Look (Isaiah 6:1): Isaiah saw the Lord "high and lifted up" in a time of grief and instability. This "upward look" provides spiritual vision and reminds us to look to God for help, not man or circumstances.

• The Inward Look (Isaiah 6:5): Seeing God's holiness causes us to look inward and acknowledge our own sinfulness. This inward look, guided by the Holy Spirit, leads to repentance and personal transformation.

• The Outward Look (Isaiah 6:8-9): After experiencing the upward and inward looks, Isaiah was purified and responded to God's call with "Here am I, send me." This is the outward look of a missionary church that is focused on discipleship and winning souls, even when it requires personal sacrifice and facing persecution.

• Isaiah 6:1-9: "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.' At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 'Woe to me!' I cried. 'I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.' Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, 'See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.' Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me.' He said, 'Go and tell this people: 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.''"

   

• Proverbs 29:18: "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."

• Exodus 33:18: "Then Moses said, 'Now show me your glory.'"

• Romans 12:1: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

• Psalm 99:1-5: "The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. Let them praise your great and awesome name—he is holy. The King in his might loves justice. You have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy."

   

• Acts 1:8: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

• Psalm 51:1-3: "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me."
